The power of prayer...

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 7, 2009, 10:28 AM

... it obviously works.

BECAUSE I GOT THE NEW JOB DAMMIT!

:D

Yep, that was the thing I didn't want to jinx :D

I've been amazingly unhappy in my present job for the last two years. I won't go into reasons, why's or wherefore's but it's sufficient to say that Michael Douglas in Falling Down would have been a close personification of my mental state over the last few months. It's become increasingly directionless, stressy and mismanaged and a week last Friday I decided enough was enough.

I posted my CV on a job website.

That afternoon I got an email asking me to go for an interview.

Passed that.

Got asked back for a second on the proviso that I spent some time thinking about the company website and how to promote it and was asked to come back today.

I didn't just think about it, I wrote a 11,000 word critique of the site and did a template redesign of two sections over the weekend.

I've had about 4 hours sleep since Friday.

But...

They loved it... and I'm now officially out of the rut I was in. Seriously, I could cry.

It's a fantastic place, lots of dynamic stuff going on and I'm going to be driving much of it - the board also listen, which for me is a novelty. I was worried I'd been too harsh in my critique but they accepted most of what I said with resignation.

I think someone just opened a window, I feel like I can breathe.

So, that's what all the fuss was about.

I thank you and whatever God you prayed to for your thoughts and prayers and I'm sorry for being so secretive!

Hola.

My name is Matt Lewis and I hail from deepest darkest Wales. Here it rains almost constantly and the sheep have sharp teeth and ravenous sexual appetites but... if you're carefree and open minded... it can also be a very beautiful place to live. I live with my partner, I have three children aged 14, 6 and 3, a dog, a cat, a rabbit, a tortoise and a fish. By day I'm a designer, by night I'm a designer... but inbetween sometimes I take photos.

I began taking an interest in photography around 4 years ago when working on the Galapagos Islands, I mean, who wouldn't? I often wish I could go back and do it all again knowing what I know now... but sadly that's not an option so I generally stick to taking pictures of crap and refuse rather than Iguanas and Turtles.

My primary interest is abstract imagery, especially heavily textured 'found paintings'. I've also recently developed an interest in still life and portraits which I'm greatly enjoying playing with.

That's about it really.

Bye.

Do Not Go Gentle...

Do Not Go Gentle - Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Sing like no one is listening, love like you've never been hurt. Dance like no one is watching, and live like it's heaven on earth.
Thank you :iconjelloplz:

Courage does not always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow".
ur welcome :floating:

Be as smart as you can, but remember that it is always better to be wise than to be smart.
